America Turns 250: Where to Celebrate Independence Day Around Long Beach

This Fourth of July feels a little different. While fireworks, backyard barbecues, and beach days remain part of the tradition, 2026 also marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence—a milestone known as America’s Semiquincentennial.

Across the country, communities are marking the occasion with larger celebrations, and Long Beach is going all out. The city’s new Sea to Shining LBC celebration brings together Olympic-themed events, waterfront activities, and what promises to be one of the biggest fireworks displays in the city’s history, with three synchronized fireworks shows launching simultaneously along the coastline at 9 p.m. on July 4.

Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly picnic, a rooftop view, or a spot to spread out a blanket on the sand, here are some of the best places to celebrate near Long Beach.

Where to Watch Fireworks

Long Beach Waterfront

This year’s signature celebration features three synchronized fireworks displays visible from the Downtown Waterfront, Junipero Beach, and Granada Beach in Belmont Shore. The shows begin at 9 p.m. and are free to attend. Arrive early, as parking and viewing areas are expected to fill up quickly.

The Queen Mary

The historic ocean liner is hosting its “Cheers to 250 Years!” celebration with live entertainment, food, themed experiences, and premium viewing for the fireworks finale. Admission is required for the onboard festivities.

Shoreline Village

One of the best free viewing locations, Shoreline Village offers waterfront restaurants, shops, and unobstructed views toward the Queen Mary and Rainbow Harbor.

More Events to Celebrate Independence Day.

No matter where you celebrate, the Fourth of July is a chance to gather with friends, family, and neighbors. And while this year’s 250th anniversary looks back on America’s history, it’s also an opportunity to appreciate the communities we continue to build today—right here in Long Beach and beyond.
