From October 8 through November 2, stop by Playa Market during open altar hours and add a photo, flower, written message, or small offering honoring a family member, friend, beloved pet, community hero, or someone whose memory you want to celebrate.
Our ofrenda will grow throughout the month as our community adds their own stories and memories — creating a shared space to honor those who came before us and celebrate the traditions, culture and history that connect us.
Come contribute to the altar, spend some time remembering, explore the market, and be part of something we’re creating together.

Bring an ofrenda. Share a memory. Be part of our community altar.
The altar will be open to the public at Playa Market, and everyone is welcome to participate. You do not need to bring an offering to visit, reflect, or experience the ofrenda.
At the end of October, we will gather for an Indigenous ceremony honoring those represented on the altar, creating a shared moment of remembrance, gratitude, and community. More details coming soon.

FAQ
What happens to my ofrenda item(s) after you remove the altar?
You can pick up your items from Nov 6th – 15th during regular business hours.
What if I don't have anything to bring?
Ofrendas are not required, you can still come by and see our beautiful altar and all the wonderful community ofrendas. We will also have paper for you to write a message to those you’d like to remember/honor.
What items are not permitted?
No real food or drinks
No items larger than 8 inches.
No weapons of any kind
No items with real fire
No violent, pornographic or inappropriate content
We reserve the right to remove any item we do not deem appropriate for our altar.
What type of items can I bring?
Your ofrenda can be anything that reminds you of the loved one you want to honor. It can be a picture, a small art piece, small toy, fake fruit/food, or a simple note. We please ask you to keep your ofrendas no larger than 6 inches in size; we want to make sure there’s plenty of room for everyone.
Are my items secure?
We believe our community is respectful and trust that they will not take anything that isn’t theirs. We will definitely be present during business hours, and try our best to keep an eye out, but unfortunately we cannot be responsible for lost/damaged items. We highly recommend to not bring any irreplaceable items, expensive items, and such. We recommend brining a copy of a photo, a similar item to the original, or a written note.

Grab your pumpkin and turn it into your own Halloween masterpiece. Spooky, creepy, funny, weird or completely unhinged. Create whatever you want at your own pace while hanging out, having a drink and meeting some new people.
We’ll provide the pumpkins, paint, brushes and all the supplies you need, plus refreshments and drinks to enjoy while you create. Come with friends, bring a date, or show up solo and meet new people.
there are no rules for your pumpkin and no art skills required.
At the end of the night, take your creation home.

Bring a picnic, grab your friends, bring your chosen family—or come solo and find your people. Explore our Proud! Arts & Crafts Market, hang out with community camps, discover local organizations and artists, catch performances, and spend the afternoon celebrating the beautifully diverse LGBTQ+ community that makes Long Beach home.
Most importantly, this is a gathering, not just something you come to watch. We want you to participate, connect, wander into a camp, meet your neighbors and be part of creating the Gayborhood we want year-round.
The Gathering also marks the road toward Be Proud! Fest 2027, our vision for a larger Pride celebration created with and for the community.

The Big Gayborhood Gathering is completely FREE — no ticket required. But if you believe in what we’re building, you can become a Gayborhood Builder by purchasing an optional supporter ticket.
Your support helps us keep events like the Gathering accessible, create more spaces centered on our local LGBTQ+ community, support queer artists, performers and small businesses, and continue building toward Be Proud! Fest 2027 — a Pride celebration created by our community, for our community.
No special access. No velvet rope. Just helping us build something we can all be proud of.

After a day of celebrating queer community at The Big Gayborhood Gathering, we’re taking the party into the night with UNLABLD at The Hare.
Expect house, techno, dancing and late-night queer energy as we bring everyone back together on the dance floor.
But this one is more than an after party. UNLABLD is also a fundraiser for Be Proud! Fest 2027, helping us build toward a bigger, community-driven Pride celebration in Long Beach next year.
